The area has been named after the Ancient Greek Goddess Artemis daughter of Zeus & Leto, and the nearby Sanctuary of Brauronian Artemis was among the most important sacred sites in the ancient times. A beautiful museum and the remains of the Temple, the sanctuary of Iphigeneia, the gymnasium and other buildings are worth the visit.
